In April, the National Supply Company (Conab) announced that 180 warehouses were announced under study for sale or concession.

This left farmers worried, as Brazil does not have structures capable of storing everything that is produced and this deficit harms rural producers' businesses. The entity, however, guarantees that sales or concessions will not diminish the agency's current static capacity.
“The idea is to reduce Conab's weight on the federal budget and, at the same time, improve the entity's services. Contracts will be made and models of concessions and public-private partnerships, in the sense that the consideration of our partners will be in the form of maintenance, modernization and even some kind of operationalization of our warehouses", said the superintendent of Storage of Conab, Stelito Reis Neto.
